ACT/ACT Prep & PSAT
ACT Testing Information
College-bound students should take the ACT test at least once during their Junior year. It is encouraged that students take the ACT multiple times during their junior and senior years. Colleges look at a combination of ACT scores and GPA to determine whether a student will be admitted as well as for scholarship eligibility.
ACT (no writing): $55 Includes report for you, your high school, and up to four colleges if you provide their school code when registering.
ACT with writing: $70 Includes report for you, your high school, and up to four colleges if you provide their school code when registering. Learn more about ACT with writing here.
NOTE: No Utah colleges require the ACT with writing test, but it's encouraged for competitive schools outside Utah.
ACT fee waivers available for students currently on a fee waiver. See your counselor or Mrs. Perry for more information.

The PSAT has two functions: National Merit Scholarship qualification and an official SAT preview.
While the PSAT is typically given in October, this year WXHS will be hosting the PSAT on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
- To sign up, pay the $20 test fee through myDSD. This will hold your spot. Testing is limited to the first 140 students who sign up.
The January PSAT will still qualify juniors for National Merit consideration. However, scores for the January test-takers will be issued later. Students (and parents) might be reassured that National Merit decisions are not made until the following fall and the scholarship process might not be affected.
Juniors are provided a free ACT practice test in the fall. This PowerPoint is a great resource to learn how to read and interpret those practice ACT scores.
A presentation to explain how to use practice ACT results will be held on January 18, 2021 at 5:00 or 6:15 in the media center. Limited to 15 students with one parent/guardian. Register at myDSD (opening January 15th). A livestream link will be provided.
