Davis School District high schools helped save lives across the state this school year by hosting 19 blood drives that brought in 1,101 units of blood for Associated Regional and University Pathologists (ARUP) Blood Services.
All donations stay in Utah to support patients at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital and University of Utah Hospitals, according to Rob Fox with ARUP Blood Services Community Relations.
"Every school contributed something," Fox said. "We’re so grateful for each blood drive and for the students and teachers who gave their time and support."
The breakdown of collected blood by school includes:
Bountiful High – 2 drives / 95 units
Clearfield High – 1 drive / 76 units
Davis High – 2 drives / 90 units
Farmington High – 4 drives / 228 units
Layton High – 1 drive / 53 units
Northridge High – 2 drives / 58 units
Syracuse High – 1 drive / 29 units
Viewmont High – 2 drives / 128 units
Woods Cross High – 4 drives / 344 units
Several schools hit major milestones:
Davis High’s April 24 drive collected 47 units—their largest since 2019.
Farmington High brought in 74 units on April 28, their second-largest drive ever.
Syracuse High’s April 15 drive was their largest since 2011 with 29 units.
Viewmont High set a new Viewmont record on Feb. 21 with 68 units collected.
Woods Cross High reached an all-time high with 101 units collected on April 30.
“We’re looking forward to being back in Davis District high schools again in 2025–26,” Fox said.
